Spring Road Trip - Pt. 6 - Heading Home but First a New Mexico visit.
I decided to go home on 44/40 so I could drop down to see Ken and Kristy in Ruidoso. The timeline was going to have to be fluid depending on how I responded to the altitude in Alto. Ken and Kristy had Tee times almost everyday so Charlie and I spent a lot of time on the back deck just enjoying the beauty of the area.

Some of the cool things that add to the peaceful atmosphere are just the beautiful way the place is decorated with the many of rocks Kristy has found while rockhounding as well as how amazing the home is decorated with items from her thrifting something we make time to do when I visit. And of course the beauty of the wildlife including the wild horses that come to drink from the bird feeder.

The dogs, Charlie and Ridley had scrambled eggs every morning so they could have breakfast with us. As soon as we started getting things ready they were right there waiting somewhat patiently 😊.

We had a fun night with fish and chips at the country club with friends some whom I had met before and then came back and remembered we hadn’t taken pictures yet so we took some and then the last evening we had a beautiful sunset and I took a final picture in Alto. It was another picture with fuck you message to

The trip home was mostly uneventful. I stopped to take a picture of the bar where the green chili cheeseburger was supposedly invented. Because it was Sunday it was closed.

And I got a good close up picture of one of the antennas at the VLA. I had passed them on other trips but never saw one on the tracks that close to the road.

Charlie was content to head home. But he wasn’t about to eat the hotel’s scrambled eggs from the buffet. Must have been powered. 😂

For the first time in a long time we saw Mount Shasta against a clear blue sky.

The first thing I unpacked after we got home was a gift from the kids. 😊
