Summer/Fall 2023 Road Trip - Pt 3

Over the years I’ve made many trips to Cocoa Beach always with the intention of seeing Jeff and family. This trip was no different except the family dynamics once again changed. Jeff and Rochelle had divorced since my last visit and both had new girlfriends. 






Clarence and I went to the Sand Bar with Jeff and Tracy a place we always try to go at least once when there. The good news is the food was still good. The bad news is the beer wasn’t cold. 😞












That night Jeff came back to the hotel so Donavan could swim and Alyssa came by after work and then she went to pick up the food we ordered at another of our favorites, Rock the Guac. 










The next day was a run around day, taking Charlie to the beach and the dog park. Clarence and I took our normal trip to the Cocoa Beach Pier where we’ve had so many good times over the years. It’s just not the same anymore since a corporation took over. We had one beer and left. They didn’t even open until 11:00 and we used to go there for breakfast. 🤷‍♂️ We drove to the Port to look around waiting for the Pier to open. 






















That night Rochelle brought her girlfriend Becky, Donovan and Alex. The kids swam while we visited by the pool and then ordered dinner from the restaurant on site. 






Then Clarence and I had a final glass of wine to toast this time in Cocoa Beach. The next day it was on to Folkston, Georgia to visit Fred and Leah.

Life Without Running Vol 4 - Final Oregon Days

While most of my final days in Oregon were spent packing, cleaning and getting rid of stuff I did do the Butte to Butte 5K on the 4th of July and I had tickets for the USATF Track and Field Championships for all four days. I went to the first three but skipped the fourth day because I was worn down and knew I had to load my U Haul and get on the road in just a couple of days. Here it is three months later and sadly I think the reality is my Butte to Butte 5K is probably the last one I’ll ever be able to do. I had said if I got to the point where I couldn’t do a 5k under an hour then I’d probably have to hang it up. My time was 1:00.48. 🤷‍♂️ Am I done? My spirit says no my physical abilities say yes. Maybe I’ll still try to do mile races if I can see some improvement in my health. 🤞. True wishful thinking. Christmas Traditions 🎄

​the best part about this Christmas was getting to share it with Stacie’s family for the first time since 2018. They do such a great job keeping traditions alive and it makes everything even more special.  Starting with food 😊.  The morning started with an amazing sun out front and a beautiful view out back.  Then it was coffee and cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos until the kids got up. 😊 And of course the dogs played a central role until the were worn out   The best part of the entire Christmas as I already said was spending time with family. 😍 And of course we had our traditional Christmas meal of brisket with Mac and cheese and sides.  It’s pretty obvious that Koda and Charlie were worn out by the end of the day. Dogs & Kids Acrivities

​I got Charlie a groomer when we got here and while I was a little shocked when they brought him out the first time I have to admit I like his new look.  The other dog news is that the kids got a new dog, Koda. She’s a beautiful and smart dog.  As far as the kids activities let’s just say there are to many to mention them all. I am so proud of how well they’ve adapted to the move, new teams and new school.  Just a few of the things they’ve already done. Chase getting his senior backpack, painting his senior parking spot, homecoming, qualifying for state DECA at the District meet, getting accepted to CSU, volunteer work at the Humane Society and of course hockey.  Same for Haley busy and having so much going on. Getting her drivers permit, National Honor Society, homecoming, volunteering at multiple places through Global Leaders and playing for two hockey teams.  November had a couple of landmark events as far as my apartment.
