Summer/Fall 2023 Road Trip - Pt 5




Back in St. Louis it was pumpkin spice season as it is every year at this time. I bought muffins and pumpkin bread to kick off my contribution to the season. 😊 

Food both at home and eating out is always a big part of my visits with family and this time was no different, from Tom’s grilling to Stacie’s cooking of my favorites, to going out to eat with friends and family. I’ve posted many times in the past about why I often show food pictures because of the memories they evoke and these are no different. 😊



The weekend I got back was Wildwood Days so we went to the parade before Haley’s first Dec Game of the season. It was the first of two games I was going to get to see while I was there. 












That night we went to the Wildwood Days celebration and had dinner at Benedetto’s before walking home to watch fireworks from the deck. 







There was another hockey game while I was there, I got both my flu and Covid vaccines and Chase had Spirit Week for homecoming. This was the second year in a row I was there for homecoming. I got to see Spirit Week activities but was gone on another road trip over the weekend.

Life Without Running Vol 4 - Final Oregon Days

While most of my final days in Oregon were spent packing, cleaning and getting rid of stuff I did do the Butte to Butte 5K on the 4th of July and I had tickets for the USATF Track and Field Championships for all four days. I went to the first three but skipped the fourth day because I was worn down and knew I had to load my U Haul and get on the road in just a couple of days. Here it is three months later and sadly I think the reality is my Butte to Butte 5K is probably the last one I’ll ever be able to do. I had said if I got to the point where I couldn’t do a 5k under an hour then I’d probably have to hang it up. My time was 1:00.48. 🤷‍♂️ Am I done? My spirit says no my physical abilities say yes. Maybe I’ll still try to do mile races if I can see some improvement in my health. 🤞. True wishful thinking. Christmas Traditions 🎄

​the best part about this Christmas was getting to share it with Stacie’s family for the first time since 2018. They do such a great job keeping traditions alive and it makes everything even more special.  Starting with food 😊.  The morning started with an amazing sun out front and a beautiful view out back.  Then it was coffee and cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos until the kids got up. 😊 And of course the dogs played a central role until the were worn out   The best part of the entire Christmas as I already said was spending time with family. 😍 And of course we had our traditional Christmas meal of brisket with Mac and cheese and sides.  It’s pretty obvious that Koda and Charlie were worn out by the end of the day. Dogs & Kids Acrivities

​I got Charlie a groomer when we got here and while I was a little shocked when they brought him out the first time I have to admit I like his new look.  The other dog news is that the kids got a new dog, Koda. She’s a beautiful and smart dog.  As far as the kids activities let’s just say there are to many to mention them all. I am so proud of how well they’ve adapted to the move, new teams and new school.  Just a few of the things they’ve already done. Chase getting his senior backpack, painting his senior parking spot, homecoming, qualifying for state DECA at the District meet, getting accepted to CSU, volunteer work at the Humane Society and of course hockey.  Same for Haley busy and having so much going on. Getting her drivers permit, National Honor Society, homecoming, volunteering at multiple places through Global Leaders and playing for two hockey teams.  November had a couple of landmark events as far as my apartment.
