Still Thankful, But Damn!!!

Traditionally I decorate my Christmas tree on Thanksgiving weekend, usually Friday. Because I had treatment scheduled for that Friday and it would be at the end of my cycle and I was functioning fairly well I decided to put it up the week before. It took me several days literally a few ornaments at a time but I got it done and that turned out to be a good thing because Saturday after Thanksgiving I was back in the ER at Riverbend for another eye stroke. 




On Thanksgiving Day it was cold but Smitty, Denise and I did the Turkey Stuffer 5K. After I went home, napped and showered I went to Smitty’s for dinner with his mom. It’s always good to see her. 








I was able to drive myself to the ER which didn’t make Stacie real happy but I knew I could still see well enough to drive that far. One of the side affects was nausea similar to motion sickness because of the distorted vision in my left eye. I decided to try an eye patch when watching TV or just sitting around I think it helps some just by resting the eye. 








And Charlie? He just stared at me. 😂

Life Without Running Vol 4 - Final Oregon Days

While most of my final days in Oregon were spent packing, cleaning and getting rid of stuff I did do the Butte to Butte 5K on the 4th of July and I had tickets for the USATF Track and Field Championships for all four days. I went to the first three but skipped the fourth day because I was worn down and knew I had to load my U Haul and get on the road in just a couple of days. Here it is three months later and sadly I think the reality is my Butte to Butte 5K is probably the last one I’ll ever be able to do. I had said if I got to the point where I couldn’t do a 5k under an hour then I’d probably have to hang it up. My time was 1:00.48. 🤷‍♂️ Am I done? My spirit says no my physical abilities say yes. Maybe I’ll still try to do mile races if I can see some improvement in my health. 🤞. True wishful thinking. Christmas Traditions 🎄

​the best part about this Christmas was getting to share it with Stacie’s family for the first time since 2018. They do such a great job keeping traditions alive and it makes everything even more special.  Starting with food 😊.  The morning started with an amazing sun out front and a beautiful view out back.  Then it was coffee and cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos until the kids got up. 😊 And of course the dogs played a central role until the were worn out   The best part of the entire Christmas as I already said was spending time with family. 😍 And of course we had our traditional Christmas meal of brisket with Mac and cheese and sides.  It’s pretty obvious that Koda and Charlie were worn out by the end of the day. Dogs & Kids Acrivities

​I got Charlie a groomer when we got here and while I was a little shocked when they brought him out the first time I have to admit I like his new look.  The other dog news is that the kids got a new dog, Koda. She’s a beautiful and smart dog.  As far as the kids activities let’s just say there are to many to mention them all. I am so proud of how well they’ve adapted to the move, new teams and new school.  Just a few of the things they’ve already done. Chase getting his senior backpack, painting his senior parking spot, homecoming, qualifying for state DECA at the District meet, getting accepted to CSU, volunteer work at the Humane Society and of course hockey.  Same for Haley busy and having so much going on. Getting her drivers permit, National Honor Society, homecoming, volunteering at multiple places through Global Leaders and playing for two hockey teams.  November had a couple of landmark events as far as my apartment.
