December Thoughts

That quote pretty much sums up how my life is now. I try to get things done every day but can’t always do it. Sometimes, actually too often, just taking a shower feels like an accomplishment. But if I don’t allow myself to have a pity party I’m able to stay out of the dumps for the most part. And that’s pretty much how December went as well.

This was crazy! For a couple months I’ve had minor ant issues from time to time. Always just a a couple at a time and usually by the bathroom or kitchen sink. Only once did I have a bunch so I couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. Well that picture is actually ants 🐜 in a corner of my bedroom. I thought they were dead and when I went to clean them up I realized they were alive just kind of hibernating. The good news is after I cleaned them up and sprayed I haven’t seen any since. 🀞

Thanksgiving weekend saw me ending up in the ER then Charlie got sick in mid December. He wound up with some kind of stomach bug that showed up bad on a Friday night and got even worse Saturday night when I had to take him out 10 times. That was rough and I got him started on chicken and rice. I couldn’t get him into the vet until Monday but they got him on hydration, anti nausea medicine and antibiotics. He recovered slowly but was back to normal after a few days on chicken and rice.

Christmas was about as low key as it’s ever been here. We did go out for dinner Christmas Eve and Brandy treated us to a good steak dinner at TJs. The place we went last year was closed because it was Sunday night. Then Christmas Day the best part was opening gifts from the O’Connells and enjoying pictures and videos they sent throughout the day. We met over at the house in the afternoon after Donna and Brandy finished all of their stall cleaning, projects and afternoon feeding. We threw all the gift cards in a bowl and took turns drawing. Then back to my place to enjoy more of the Chex Mix the kids sent with my gifts.

On the 27th Smitty and I took Charlie and went over to Florence to stay at “The Duck”, Pete and Lori’s place. I’d been twice before in ‘16 and ‘18 when I was here visiting from California. The goal was to get Charlie to visit the Pacific Ocean for the first time. He’s made it to the Atlantic several times so now he’s been to both coasts. 😊 it was a fun overnight trip and we were able to get on the beach between rain storms.

Tried two new foods while there and both were good. Spicy Fried Cauliflower and Stollen Bread French toast. Another reason to post food pics. Memories 😊.
