Further South - Pt. 2
I got a call from Leah when I was about ten miles from Folkston to see where I was because she was going to take Fred to the ER. For a back injury. Since I was so close they said they’d wait and I went with them.
The ER was like every other ER and paranoia was high with all the people coughing and hacking. π I spent most of the time sitting on a bench or walking around outside. Leah and I drove to the Commissary at the Submarine Base because she needed milk but it was closed on Monday. It was a break from waiting around though.
When Fred was done we went for margaritas and Mexican food that was really good. Then we stopped at Chik Filet where their granddaughter Morgan worked for chocolate shakes. Unfortunately then spent the night suffering from acid reflux. π©
I always look forward to good breakfast at Fred and Leah’s including prime rib and eggs this time. π And that’s always after we start with coffee on the porch with the dogs. Fortunately they have an overhead fan on the porch because it was really muggy this whole visit.
We didn’t go anywhere this trip because of Fred’s back and to say our drinking had slowed down is an understatement. I of course was in bed early every night. π€·♂️ IIWII. One day we had the jalapeΓ±o wine Bloody Marys that I bought last October when visiting Doug. They were really good.
One day I told them I could tell they were suffering from not watching Fox News and that I had no trouble identifying lies so go ahead and put it on for a while. We tiptoed around politics but I mostly just laughed at their MAGA bullshit. Those MAGA people are seriously brainwashed. It really would be funny if it wasn’t such a threat to our Democracy.
After coffee the last morning I headed to Cocoa Beach and Fred headed to see doctors about his back. It was great seeing them but too bad Clarence wasn’t able to go.
