Further South - Pt. 3

This was my mileage and driving time from home to when I got to Motel 6 in Cocoa Beach. 🏖️

Motel 6 turned out to be a big disappointment. With a 3:00 check in we were early when we showed up at 1:15 to see if we could get in early. The lady told me she’d see if the room was done but it would be $20 extra. I just shrugged and said whatever I was ready to get settled and rest. Short version the room wouldn’t be ready until 3:00 so Charlie and I went to the dog park. It was hot and humid but fortunately there were chairs under some big shade trees and there was a good breeze off the ocean.

After a while we went to Long Doggers to kill some more time and had a Bud Light on the patio.

When we returned to the motel at 3:15 the dog and pony show continued and the room wasn’t ready. I asked, “Since I would have had to pay $20 to get in early do I get $20 back for checking in late”? Of course the answer was that it didn’t work that way. I waited another 30 minutes and then told them to just put me in a room I didn’t care if it had a refrigerator and microwave or not. So the gave me a room and when I got there it smelled like weed, there was no tv remote and the lights over the beds didn’t work. 🙄

I called the front desk and the phone didn’t work so I walked back down there and the lady came back with a remote. I told her I changed my mind I couldn’t stay in that room without working lights and weed smoke for four nights I said I’d go nuts so I’ll wait for my original room to be ready.

So they finally said my room was ready and Charlie and I climbed the stairs once again. I entered the room and the first thing I noticed is only two pillows for two beds then I looked closer; no blankets, no shower curtain,  o towels, etc. I saw water on the floor near the AC unit. WTF? 😳. So back down the stairs and back to the office. I was tired as hell at this point.

I’m going to end this painful story now. I got back to the office, the housekeeper had just turned in her room list and my room was noted as uninhabitable because the bathtub not draining. 🤷‍♂️ They finally got me into another room, also upstairs and it was okay. Worst check in experience ever!

The next day Charlie and I met Jeff and Tracy for lunch at Salty Sisters in Cocoa Beach. The food was very good and we had a good visit.

I had hoped to have Rochelle and the kids to come over Saturday to use the pool but the pool was down the whole time I was there. As it turned out it was raining most of Saturday anyway so I just went to the house to visit for a while and then stopped at Rock the Guac for food on the way back.

I had originally planned to stay through Monday but decided I didn’t want to sit around the motel for an extra day just to watch tv. So I met Jeff for coffee at Dunkin the next morning and then headed back north.
