Crawling Out of a Funk (Unsuccessfully)

November 30th:

The first thing I’ll say is that it isn’t easy to simply “crawl out of a funk”. The bottom line in my case at least is that when I’m talking about a funk I’m really talking about a bout of depression. In my case the bitch about dealing with depression is that the depression negatively impacts me physically as much or more than emotionally and PNH sadly makes it hard to just ignore the issue and “get over it”.

December 29th:

This has been a rough post to write because I never crawled out of that funk. So with the New Year approaching I decided I had to at least make an effort to look back and find some things to post about that happened between getting back from my trip and the end of the year. There were some positives after all I just struggled to appreciate them like I normally would.

So the rest of this post will be thoughts on moments that happened.

The breakfast was pretty bad. 😊 Smitty and I met for our annual Veterans Day breakfast. This year we went to Denny’s and free or not the breakfast was lousy. Overcooked eggs, undercooked bacon and greasy potatoes. Good company though. Most of the rest of the month was just Charlie and I hanging out and watching the kids play hockey on Livebarn. And I even got my Christmas tree up earlier than usual.

I had a nice Thanksgiving with the Smiths again this year. I love getting to see Mom Smith when she comes out. John’s cousin and husband were here again. It was a nice day.

I was disappointed I just didn’t feel good enough to do our traditional 5K with John and Denise but it’s looking more and more like my race days may be over. πŸ˜”

Stacie and Tom got out for a virtual Turkey Trot and some of my Colorado running friends did the Turkey Trot in the Springs. Gerald and Kari and Spell and his daughter Amelia.

Christmas was low key but nice. On Christmas Eve Brandy treated Donna and I to brunch at TJs. I had the chicken fried steak bowl and it was outstanding.

Christmas Day we had turkey chili and cornbread at the house.

Post Christmas was more Livebarn this time accompanied by Chex Mix that Stacie sent and then a disappointing Picture in Picture experience watching the Broncos and Rams loss side by side.
