A Trip With My Sisters
Donna was trying to update the title on land in Elko, Nevada that she owned with my parents. It should have been simple but wasn’t. She had an appointment in court so decided to go in person rather than a meeting online. Initially I wasn’t going to go but I really didn’t like the idea of her making the drive alone through some pretty remote areas. Carol planned to meet us in Elko for the weekend. So we decided to all go and make a weekend of it. We left on Saturday and headed back on Tuesday.

Charlie was less than enthusiastic to hit the road. 😊

My car hit 100,000 miles on this trip. It’s been a good car for all the trips I’ve made. On Sunday we set out to find Donna’s land. Carol was a good navigator and we got close despite lousy unmaintained dirt roads. We finally hit a muddy stretch we couldn’t go past. I almost got stuck and the car got completely muddy from spinning tires.

So we got close but didn’t find the actual lots. My dad and I visited over 50 years ago and they were supposed to start improving the “neighborhood “. If anything it was even worse than when we went as far as being undeveloped land with the exception of some places where people were living mostly in old trailers. I was actually the first to buy land there then Ted, my parents and Donna. I sold mine many years ago because we were tired of paying taxes every year for no improvements.

We stopped at an interesting landmark on the way back to the hotel. The Elko Hot Hole. It was a spring that was near boiling.

After our off road adventure we drove to a car wash to get the worst of the mud off and headed back to the hotel to get Charlie settled before we headed to a casino for a while where Carol taught Donna and me how to play the slots. They sure are different from the old ones I liked where you drop a coin in and pulled the handle. 😂

On Monday we went to the courthouse for Donna’s hearing that was a waste of her time. (That’s her story to tell). Then Carol headed back to Utah and Donna and I headed to Reno for a stop for the night before getting home Tuesday.
