Technology- Blessing or Curse?
This is the first post I’m trying to write using my IPad and just the fact that I’ve got this far is progress I suppose. The idea is that it will be a lot easier to update my blog here than on my phone and that this will be just as portable.. So far the typing part is good but the technology part is a pain in my old ass. For some reason I thought I needed a separate keyboard so I ordered one from Amazon. The first one I ordered was’t compatible for my IPad so I sent it back. Thank goodness Amazon’s return policy is so easy because I’ll be sending my second one back tomorrow. I tried over and over to synch it with my phone and it just wasn’t to be so….the good news is this keyboard works just fine as I am learning how to use it. I’m back! I just decided to use the keyboard that is right on the screen and it works just fine. So enough about technology and my issues.

The final book I read in 2022 was the one pictured here I honestly don’t know how I found it but it showed up on my instagram probably on the PNH Account. It was incredibly eye opening where my disease and options of living with it is concerned. The author was diagnosed with PNH as a result of an eye stroke in 1995. The details are explained in detail in the book about his journey to a PNH diagnosis. Where his experience differs from mine is that he was cured. The cure was a complete bone marrow transplant which because of my age was not an option for me. While the story started with his diagnosis the majority of the book followed his journey through the transplant process and recovery. Three major things I came away with from his story are that PNH is deadly, PNH can be cured but only with a bone marrow transplant that is not an option for everyone and I’m grateful that while I don’t have a cure I am at least blessed to have a treatment option that makes my life manageable.

It’s the cold and rain that drive Smitty and Denise to Tucson every winter and as soon as he has his follow up with a cardiologist next week they’re planning to hit the road the next day. I finally started to feel good enough to get out to eat after stomach issues that accompanied COVID so he and I decided to get together for breakfast before they left town. We went to The Paddock the restaurant and bar where Steve Prefontaine worked when he was here. The food was outstanding but as usual the company was better. It’s the first time I ever had meatloaf for breakfast.

Those are fried eggs and tomatoes on top and hash browns on the bottom.

It’s been cold and wet here for quite a while and seems as though the rain is going to stick around for a while. Fortunately we haven’t had to many below freezing nights but when we do it takes a long time to warm up especially with the shorter winter days.

Maybe the biggest Blessing I’ve got from technology and this IPad in particular is being able to watch Chase and Haley play hockey live on something much better than my phone..😊
