A Different Super Bowl Sunday!
To call this a different Super Bowl Sunday is probably an understatement. Most of the time I have always thought of the Super Bowl as a day to celebrate with others even when I don’t have a team I care about playing. While I’m not sure that anyone would consider my day a celebration I still made the most of it. The highlight probably didn’t have anything to do with the game itself it was following Chase and Haley as they played hockey all weekend. They had a combined 2-1-1 record and both played well. I couldn’t watch any of the actual FOX coverage of the game because my cable company (Dish) no longer has a contract with FOX. What a joke nothing makes the world a better place than multi millionaires fighting with no regard for the actual consumer. So I just watched pregame coverage on the NFL Network. As far as the game itself I downloaded my Sirius subscription to my phone and listened to it on my phone so I was able to enjoy it in spite of FOX and DISH!

The good news about listening to the game rather than watching it is that I was able to read and finish James Patterson’s autobiography.

That’s Gerald with Tim Bergsten the race director and one of the best prep cross country and track sports writers I’ve ever known. Good guy!
A big part of the Super Bowl experience is also food and drink. I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch it at Brandy and Donna’s or stay home, they have Spectrum instead of DISH so they still get FOX so I bought stuff to take over or stuff to have at home. I had a good deli half rack of ribs from Safeway with some tater tots I made in my air fryer and a couple of Ultras from the twelve pack I bought at Christmas and still hadn’t opened. So I enjoyed the food and beer alone and enjoyed listening to the game even though I couldn’t watch it. May not look like much but it was good and the game was outstanding.

I was hoping to get up and feel good enough to do a race with Eclectic Edge to get me closer to my immediate race total goals but my body and probably mind had different plans. I followed Joe, Gerald, Spell and Kari who did the Super Bowl races in Colorado Springs. Gerald once again made the podium with a third place finish in his age group.

So a different kind of Super Bowl Sunday but I made the best of it and enjoyed it.
